Background
Iryn Namubiru, also known as Irene Namubiru is a female, Ugandan performing song bird artist, resident in Paris, France. Born on 1 January 1981 in Central Uganda, Iryn is blessed with two sons. She is fluent in English, French and Luganda, her native tongue. She has been active in Music Industry since 1995.

Iryn’s days in School
The Ugandan music female icon and song bird IRYN NAMUBIRU attended Mityana Senior Secondary School, Bugema Adventist secondary school and later joined Namasagali College a school well known for excellent appraisal of talent and one of the kind that has produced a good number of instrumental celebrities in the Ugandan music industry. IRYN is one of the many other stars in the Ugandan Music Industry that attended Namasagali college.

Music career
IRYN started singing as a child and a very tender age of 7 years her mother took her to join the church choir at KATWE COMMUNITY CENTER where she sang with adults as old as her grand mother. Through out Primary, secondary school, she was always a remarkable member of school choirs and drama groups yet at the same time very shy.
In 1993, IRYN got her first chance to sing on the international scene at a retreat held at DAR ES SALAM UNIVERSITY in Tanzania with the BUGEMA ADVENTIST COLLEGE choir called THE MERRY MELODIES.
Her first major attempt at success in the music industry came in 1995 when she joined singers-cum-rapper DJs Ragga Dee and Molar -Messe, as the group ‘Da Hommies’, and Joss Jjew Mawejje as studio arranger keyboardist, helping release a series of singles including the group’s hits Bamusakata, Mukwano, Mukyala tokaba, early 1995. Her very own first single LEARN TO SAY GOOD BYE also appeared on the group’s subsequent album to great acclaim. Soon after wards, she had her first stage appearance in September 1995.
From 1998 IRYN sang in many music festivals in Uganda and later joined THE BLUE MOON band that was formed by her then boyfriend Saxophonist FRANCK MOREL who later became her husband.
In 2000, she joined Juliana Kanyomozi, her former school mate at Namasagali College, and together they formed the R&B all-girl group called I-Jay to record a demo that they would later use in Europe since they both had plans of leaving Uganda that very year. In September 2000, they released their first single WAIT which got ‘moderate’ air play on radio stations in Uganda.
Soon after the release of their record, IRYN left for France. In 2001 IRYN participated in a TV show REVE D’UN SOIR for a singing completion and was a finalist on French TV TF1,the following year she was a back up vocalist for international star BJORK at the VICTOIRES DE LA MUSIQUES the equivalent of GRAMMY AWARDS as well as do backing vocals for RONAN KEATING on French TV M6.
Later in 2002, IRYN recorded background vocals on French group LES NUBIAN’s Album ONE STEP FORWARD.
In 2004, IRYN formed the Afro-Electro group NUJELI together with JULIEN GROULT signed a deal with BLOOM RECORDS, PEER MUSIC FRANCE and NAIVE and they released the Album ENSI .

In France IRYN continues to collaborate with several musicians on different projects, she performed with the Soul/Funk group ELECTRO DELUXE
In 2006, IRYN released her debut album NKUWEEKI?. This marked the beginning of her fast rise to be one of the best female musicians in Uganda. Since 2006, IRYN NAMUBIRU has released several successful songs like NKUWEEKI, NKWAGALA NNYO, BONNA OBASIINGA ” BEGOMBEKO”, ” BIROWOOZO”, KABI KI, TEBIBA BINGI, TEMPERATURE, OLI BALUWA, BYANSI which have earned her several leading awards in the Ugandan music industry. In 2004, IRYN was nominated BEST FEMALE ARTIST East Africa in the KORA AWARDS.
In 2011, IRYN capped her most successful year ever by winning in four categories of the 2011 PAM(Pearl of Africa Music) Awards. She won in the categories of Artist of the year, Female Artist of the year, Album of the year and Best RnB single of the year.
IRYN has collaborated with Ugandan top musicians including Ragga Dee, Bebe Cool, Chameleon, Navio, Sweet Kid,Julie Mutesasira, Dr.Hilderman, Khalifah Agananga and Benon Mugumbya; collaborated with “Happy Science” Japan on two songs and recorded two sound Tracks for the movie LUZIRA in 2013.
In 2014, IRYN made her premier appearance on BBC.
IRYN is currently under the management of Grajoh Talent Management and Public Relations alongside other Africa’s finest entertainment stars including Africa’s Queen of Comedy Anne Kansiime and funnyman Patrick Idringi Salvado.
